Intelligent Design: The 21st Century Pseudoscience

Philosophical, sociological and political aspects of the new antievolutionist ideology

Vicente Claramonte

This book proposes a critical research about if Intelligent Design Movement’s argument deserves to be considered a scientific discourse, from the perspective of science and the contemporary philosophy of science. To that effect, reviews Tammy Kitzmiller et al. vs. Dover Area School District trial, in which the main criterion to sentence was to discern if intelligent design hypothesis could be considered science. Thus, a Philosophy of Science typical issue becomes the key element to decide a hot topic thanks to it’s emotional, ideological, religious and legal implications. The book revises current scientific literature about knowledge areas concerned, primarily Biochemistry, Genetics and Information Theory. After assess scientific knowledge state in these subjects and others close, the work lays out to suggest and discuss the indispensable philosophical questions to an open debate about epistemological, philosophical, sociological and political implications of intelligent design hypothesis.
